Yeah my truck likes the gas and yes that is in 5th (OD)...and I still want 4.10's.
Better reconsider the 4.10s. I have 4.10s and 28 inch tires and am turning 2250 RPM at 60 MPH in overdrive 5sp. The 4.10s are nice around town--I can drive in overdrive when going around street corners--but the truck is very busy above 60 MPH.

Okay so going to work today I was pay careful attention to the tach. At 60 mph I'm turning 1900 rpm (the needle isn't covering the 2 grand mark) and at 70 mph I'm something like 2300 rpm. Keep in mind guys that in Canada there are only a few highways with a speed imit higher then 65mph most are 62mph and there are a lot that are only 55mph.

I don't have a tach, but the rpm calculator says my engine with a C6, 4.10's 235/85/16 tires turns at 2600 rpm at 60 mph....and it sure sounds right. Final gear ratio is 1.00

I didnt know that Canada has such slow speed limits on much of it's highways. Sounds like the "dark ages" down here in the states (1974 to 1987)--when 55MPH was the National Speed Limit.

Those relatively tall tires make up somewhat for the direct drive top gear in the C6. If I drove in fourth with my 4.10s and my short tires at 60MPH--the RPM would be real close to 2900 RPM.
I thought of getting 31 inch tires just to lower the engine speed on the highway. The 31 inchers would lower the RPM about 160 RPM at 60 MPH--if I remember correctly.

Well... there's the weather to contend with up here.. snow covered roads in the winter, and outside the major highways in Ontario and Quebec and around major cities there isn't a lot of divided highway. I haven't been across to the Pacific in many years so i can't saw what the TCH looks like out west. Secondary highways are 2-lane and often twisty so the average driver wouldn't be able to keep a car on the road if the limit was much more than 55. A notable exception are the new divided highways through NB and NS that have 110kms(70mph) speed limits. This has been proposed in Ontario for the 400 series highways but the Gvnt doesn't seem too interested... affraid they'll loose speeding ticket revenues I bet.
The Smoky's will usually let you away with 10-15kph over, so you can go 60 in a 55 zone and 70 in a 60 zone without issue most of the time. I don't care for going more than 70mph in the truck anyway as milage goes right in the tank after that.

Actually there is a highway here in BC called the Coquihalla it goes for over the mountain and it's a straight shot to Vancouver. The speed limit there is 110km but the summit is high enough they often will still have snow in April/May and it starts as early as September. And during the winter it's brutal traffic slows to a crawl, with lots of accidents and sometimes an avalanche. LOL. OH CANADA!

My information plate in the door jam reads H9. When I measure the axle flange cross it’s 2 1/2”. Then I measure the bearing end diameters, I got 3 1/2” x 2”. My flange looks like the 8.8” flange. but none of the measurements add up.
