A-plan is better than x-plan, at our delaership, it's sometimes better to not even use an x-plan pin because we can give a better deal than x-plan if we wanted to (and we have a few occasions). Unless it's different for you Yanks and X-plan is the actualy employee pin, but I don't think they would switch the names up.
My deal was really easy. Found the truck online, knew it was on the lot, drove it.
Sat down and said I like that truck I will buy it at invoice minus the $4500 in rebates, I want to trade my truck and keep my plow. They came back at Invoice + $200. I agreed but would either pay the $200 or the $259 doc fee, not both. They took the $259 off and I paid
invoice
+ $200
+ $292 for my plow frame
- $4500
+ Tax Title and Plates
It was really that simple. No arguing at all. They sales manager didn't even know about the $1000 commercial rebate.

Well, it was for me... Just bought an F-450 3 weeks ago with x-plan and it was below invoice.

You're right on A plan but that's for Ford employees. For the average Joe X plan is the way to go. In my situation X plan was about $400 under invoice and I asked the dealer how close I could of got with out a pin and he told be about $500 more and I would had to work real hard to get that close. So an X plan pin served me well. FYI my new F350 stickered for about $47150 and w/ X plan was just over $43K I had a $9K trade , with another $3500 in rebates so I think that was pretty good.

I'm no expert (by a long way) but I think people are confusing sticker price and dealer invoice price, they are considerably different.
Dealer invoice is between x-plan and a-plan on the invoices I have seen.

You are absolutely correct ! But when you buy a vehicle with an X plan pin the dealer has to show you the factory invoice and it has 2 boxes on it one with dealer invoice price and one with the x plan price which is a bit less than the dealer price. At least on my vehicle it was less, and there isn't any haggling which is a real pain.
But then again it's all smoke and mirrors because the dealer also gets factory incentives for sales figures, they also get a check from Ford to cover the difference when they sell a X plan vehicle.

So to clarify about the x plan pin - I would have to use it to purchase a vehicle on the lot, where the invoice in right there to compare, right? Here in our area of Texas, where Ford trucks are very popular, we haven't found any F250's on the lots with the specific equipment we want. We will need to special order our 2008. Does that rule out x plan pin for us? Regarding the ad's in newspapers for $10,000 and more off, we have checked and found that this is for totally loaded King Ranch style vehicles that are out of our price range.
x-plan can be used to order a vehicle. But the other incentives from Ford might not be available if you are not buying from dealer stock. This sucks for me because I am thinking about getting a V10 but they are never on the lots, which means I would have to order ;-(.
Guys, you can use the X plan to order , I did. And all nationally advertised rebates apply, but only the ones at time of delivery, not the rebates that are going on when you order.

Okay, I am clearer about the benefits of the X plan now. However, in looking at dealer websites referring to the x plan pin it looks like you have to work for one of the eligible partners of Ford. It seems you need a partner recognition code, then you call for the pin, and it also asks for proof of employment in the partner organization when you pick up the vehicle. One site mentioned about being sponsored by a Ford employee. Is this correct? I hate to approach our local dealership until I have my facts straight.

my company is a ford partner and I had to show proof (pay stub) that I worked for them to get x-plan.

Any dealer MUST honor the x-plan pricing, it is the best deal you can get with out haggeling. You can still haggle on the price with it, but I was very happy with my x-plan experiance, the guy who helped me was the Director of Love Ford's http://www.lovefords.org/xplan/default.htm His name is John and he will get you an X plan PIN number and you can use it on a Ford on the lot or do what I did and order it!!! Too easy and very simple!!! Best deal going IMHO!!! Best of luck, if you contact John telling hime Paul sent you!
X-plan is a program that Ford has to allow employees to provide a way for their family and friends to get a fairly good price from a dealer, without haggling. Sign up here, read about the program, and make a request from one of your new friends: http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums...p?showforum=45
Rebates are good for orders too, but it's the rebates in play at the time of delivery, not time of order.
Not sure if a dealer MUST honor x-plan. If they do honor, they have to abide by the rules. But I think I read about some dealers not taking x-plan on high demand, limited production vehicles such as Bullitt Mustangs.

I know incentives vary by area, but my wife said today our local dealership had an ad in the paper showing 0% financing on 2008 Superdutys for 60 months. I looked it up on Ford's website, and sure enough she was right:
2008 F-Super Duty Crew Cab
Offer valid:
2/4/2008 - 2/29/2008 Brought to you by:
0% APR For Up To 60 Months For A Limited Time*
I bought my '06 with x-plan and also got 0% financing for 72 months. As bad as I'd like to have a new one while they have this offer, I can't afford to drop down to 60 months on the payments. I'm happy with what I have anyway.
