Hi; I have a 2000 F350 Suprduty and the Door Ajar idiot light has started staying on once I started the truck and that makes the Dome light stay on. I have made sure that all 4 doors are secure. I can't find the sensor on the door .
Please tell me where to look and if you have any tips for fixing it.
Try spraying a liberal amount of WD40 in all 4 doors (or similar spray lubricant). It has happened to many of us, and except for 3 or 4 guys who have an issue with a computer module under the dash, this fix works like a dream.

Of course i meant to say to spray the lock mechanism on all 4 doors. Just spraying it in all 4 doors gets the interior all covered in WD40 and doesn't solve the problem.
You could just as easily spray a liberal amount from one open door per side and do the same thing as spraying in all 4 doors by going from my original description.
Same problem here. However I have an 02 X and the door ajar light is for my rear door latch. I'm going to try the lub and see what that does. Mine also shuts off after I have been on the road for about 10 minutes or so. good thing for the tint so it blocks out the light for the other drivers.
to all those who have used the wd-40 and it worked. I say, you guys are lucky that this worked for you. I wish I could say the same about my 02' turns out to be the GEM. If this has/is happening to your truck think about the GEM.

Door lock switches inside the truck don't work.
The dome light will not go out even while driving.
The auto headlights don't work.
The door locks will not auto lock at 5mph.
The radio stays on with the key out and the door is open.
The alarm works intermitantly.
The door ajar light will not come on with any door open.
Off the top of my head guzzle, jverba and myself have had the VSM replaced. Upon researching the Electrical Systems and Wiring Forum I found three other guys that replaced their VSM. This is where I noticed that all six of us had 2002 modle trucks! Coincidence?! I'm not saying its an epidemic, just sharing my thoughts.
Well, WD40 can't fix everything, but it does fix a lot of door ajar and dome light staying on problems. Wouldn't it be nice if it really could fix the GEM or VSM?
I had the very same problem with the door ajar light and the dome light also staying on. WD 40 took care of this problem.. Just be sure to spray it all around the door jamb mechanism in the door. I usually do it every time I service the truck! Good luck!.
