HPOP exchange...

Just wondering what is required to change out an HPOP from an early model 1999 to a 2000 model hpop. If im not mistaken the 2000 is a little larger, right? i have an opportunity to get one so just wonder what it takes to change out. And is it worth the trouble. Thanks in advance.

I believe it will be worth it. The early 99's are 15* units and the later ones are 17* units. The 17* units will give you more pressure on the top end than the 15* units, or so I'm told and I believe they are the same physical size so it should be a relatively simple swap. I'm looking to see if there is a write up...if I find one, I'll post a link.

Thanks guys for ur input. The deal is my friend who just happens to work for the stealer ship came across a 2000 model 7.3 with an entire engine to be replaced . The truck belonged to a firedepartment, it only had 80k miles but wanted the entire engine replaced. They dont know why since the engine ran well. But they gave me the oppurtuinty to switch out my early model stuff to the 2000 model engine sinces its going back as a core. so the entire day ive been bustin my butt exhanging things. i got all the turbo parts and uppipes but i unfortunaly im not going to have time to switch out the hpop maybe next time . oh and sorry for the long write up. Thanks again guys

Why swap, just take the whole motor. Then you have two.
