I have a flowmaster 40 on my truck, with no cat, and full tailpipe (2.25"). Windows up, can't hear it. Windows down, it has a nice tone, without being overly loud. I only put the flowmaster on because it was given to me, barely used, and my old exhaust was 10 years old, and falling apart.
I've heard that flow master sounds good but i want something that if i take it easy i wont get a ticket but when i get on it i can hear her talk to me.
Too loud is getting tickets and irritating neighbors. I can hear it over the radio, but when I want to get on it and listen, I ususally turn the radio off to get the full effect. Probably not as loud as you would like.
No, but I love my Flotech Raptor. Low cost and throaty sound, not too loud.
I took his advice and threw a Raptor on my 300 a few months ago. Like he said, very low cost, nice sound, but not too loud (I can't stand a loud exhaust that resonates in the cab).

I would not say it is a guarenteed head turner, though might turn a few now and then. Maybe the Flowtech Terminator muffler would be. You might want to try a straight pipe instead of a muffler.
I had it straight piped for a while but i have no cat so it was too loud. i dont want something thats like a racecar but loud enough other people can hear it too.
It's really difficult to find a muffler that will give you the loud, head turning sound you want, without being overly obnoxious the rest of the time.
I like the way mine sounds with the FM 40. It really surprised me that it wasn't overly loud inside the truck. I have no idea what it sounds like under hard acceleration, as I rarely exceed 1/2 throttle in this old truck.
I can say this much about the way it sounds. My 16 year old son likes it.
