Theyll just tell u that the 7.3 aint as reliable as the v-10. BTW guys we need to stop makin every thread ww3 gas vs diesel (v-10 v.s. 7.3 is what it usually comes out to be and is started by beth and lil stinky.)
I'm an unbiased person when it comes to the gas vs diesel debate. Why I because I've driven both and just so happened to end up with a diesel. Prior ro the purchase of my 01 7.3, I had the opportunity to purchase a 00 V10. I kept it for a week, but it wasn't the time to buy, so with a heavy heart, I took it back to the dealership. A year later, came back, bought my 01, and drove off the lot happy now that I had an X.
That is why I can comment on the V10 and it's abilities.
Check out some of my posts in these threads, especially the second link.
This shouldn't be a diesel versus gas thread, the owner got a vehicle that's three model years newer with very low miles. He upgraded on all accounts.
Some people don't like the sound or smell of a diesel. Diesel fuel is much more expensive than gasoline.
On the other hand the resale value is great with the Powerstroke Excursions and very bad with the V8 or V10 Excursions.
Swap to synthetic if you can afford it. The reason I say afford is because you probably just dished out $25-28K on a vehicle! My wifes X has had all synthetic fluids for a while and the motor or tranny has never beened touched, 183.5K miles.
I met a guy who had a 2001 PSD auto and at 5K miles he put in all synethic fluids. At 220K miles he hadn't touched his motor, tranny, or axles.
I think it all comes down to what the buyer wants. If he wants a diesle then get a diesel, if he wants a gasser then get a gasser. But, if it was up to me i would get both (6.8 + 7.3). U cant have it wrong with fords 2 best engs in ur drive way
First thought, what color is the sky in your world?, but then I saw you were from Texas, that explains it!
BTW Welcome to FTE!!
We all kno whos from texas. Take a guess, Chuck norris, the guy who can take out 8 ppl with M-16's while he only has his fists . The reason i say that is because of the new posters name (lone wolf mcquade)
I have top say that I love my diesel also, but like everything else in this life, everyone is entitled to their own opinions...I drove a Yukon gasser and two 3/4 "Burrbs,7.4 and 8.1, and even though the fuel is more expensive, I get much better mileage with the 7.3 pulling my 9000# TT..I'll get flamed for this, but I still like the handling of my 3/4 'burbs over the "X", but you'll have to shoot me before I'll give it up..
On the subject of mirrors,if you'll look right around this forum today, you'll find a member that has aftermarkets to give up,but no signals..That was another thing I had to give up were the fancy signal mirrors, but These are larger and have the little convex mirrors on the bottom..After driving a school bus for a number of years,I am used to all the mirrors I can use.. I'm getting a new bus with the new Fred Basset mirrors (the european style that look like dog ears and drop from the top of the bus) and boy can you see a lot more with them..
