That's a high dollar chunk of metal to be cutting up. Have you considered contacting them to see if there is a possibility of trading it back for the length you need? Otherwise I don't see where it would be any different than cutting off a standard GM type column.

I agree with Larry
call F.R. and ask them if they will swap it or what the charge to shorten it would be... might be best option... those are expensive columns to try and modify at home..

Well it's a new used one. Never been mounted. The price is right and shipping is cheap. I want to use it in my 55 F-100 and I think it should be about 30 inches long. I don't know what the bottom of the column looks like.
