I noticed while doing an engine swap, there is a difference in the 460 blocks. When I went and bought engine brackets for a 1987 460, they didn't fit the block I had. Then today, we got 2 other blocks. One a truck block, and the other a car block. The truck block has a bigger oil filter coupler AND it screws in from the inside. Not the outside and much smaller, opposed to the car block. Also there are 2 extra holes drilled where the engine brackets would go on the truck engine. And I know the extra length of the main bolt on the truck engine is for the rear sump oil pickup. Does anyone know what changed during the years of the 460 production. Thanks for any help.
P.S. You can go here http://projectbigred.20m.com/engine5.html and see what I am talking about.
If Im not mistaken, they changed the block design between 77 and 78. I could be wrong, but thats the year that pops into my head.
Of course, the truck blocks are going to be diff from the car blocks, because they are designed for heavier duty use.
