1995 f150 4.9. just replaced the belt in my truck from the old one being completely torn apart. the new one started to shred in less 2 weeks and i dont see anything that it could be rubbing on. it is shredding on the side closest to the front. any ideas on what it could be hitting?
You need to make sure your pullies are all straight.
Bout the only thing I can think of at the moment.
If one isn't straight, it will rub on the lip of the pulley and destroy the belt.
If it's really bad the belt won't stay on at all.
"im the guy with the fan clutch problem and i thought a pm would be easier then making more traffic in the forums. i just got the 2 wrenches from the auto store but i dont know where the larger one goes. i got the smaller one around the bolt between the fan and pulley but where does the larger one go? im new into working on car engines."
the large one goes over the 4 bolts that hold the pulley to the water pump.
use a strap wrench if you can't figure it out.
reply through the forum so others can help or learn also.

The easiest way to remove the bolts hold the water pump pulley on is to first hit the bolts with penetrating oil and then leave the belt on while you loosen them, this hold the pulley in place. After cracking the bolts, remove the belt, and remove the bolts and the pulley.
