if they eliminated the spade connector .... where does the wire on the truck attach to ?

They have eliminated the spade tab and put on a small connecting post instead.

You cut the spade connector off the end of the wire on your truck, and connect that wire with a nut on the post.

the spade connector was a source of corrosion.

a new starter the last time i bought one was just a little less than 100 dollars at advance auto.

not sure at napa but if they have cheapest starter, next more expensive and most expensive i would get one of the 2 more expensive.

good luck and tell us what happens after you get the truck started.

QL2, you got ripped. I bought a brand new (not reman) Motorcraft starter at Advance for about $65. ANY new or reman starter for these trucks will have the threaded post on the solenoid and a patch kit to splice to the OE wiring. There was a service advisory from Ford that prompted this move by starter rebuilders and manufacturers. A printed copy generally comes with the starter, but dunno if it's in ALL brands. I did get one with my Motorcraft, though. One of these days, I'll find it again, and scan it for posting in the gallery.

you got me thinking and when i found the receipt with tax it was just under $70.

it was for another 92 f150 with a 5.0.

well I bought a remanufactured one today for $156.47 with trade in..... slightly a bit more than $70 eh

I went to 3 places, all in the same price range, so I bought the one were I buy most of my parts from

haha idk if I fixed the problem yet
its -42'C with the windchill outside lol
and my garage is housing my other truck .....

I have it bolted up and one of the wires attached, fingers went numb couldnt get the small one, Ill go back and try to get it done in about 20 minutes .... It's supposed to get colder out tonight

YIKES! that is cold.

i forgot you were in canada, the cdn dollar price is always more for you guys.

don't loose a finger out in the cold.

we are having a heat wave here in ohio, 40 degrees f. but dropping to below zetp in the next day or so.

I'll try not to ... lol Im going out again right now, see what I can do ... probably be back in about half an hour or so

should be better soon, I sold my truck in the driveway, so, as soon as its picked up the truck in my garage will take its place, and the newer one can be parked in there... lil warmer ... (no wind) lol

everything is atached and it turns over, but it wont start,
plugs and wires look new, block heater is plugged in
its been sitting for a little while, since 2006 I think (last registered in 06) , so it could just be old gas ..... right?

try starting fluid.

check fuel shut off switch.

fuel pump priming?

do you have spark?

dont have sarting fluid
fuel pump you can hear come on for a few seconds (about 2) when you turn the key
where is the fuel shut off switch :S
