Need some ideas here.... I just changed my clutch last week and was heading up-north this weekend when I was informed by a friendly officer that I had no tail lights!?!?!? I checked the fuse under the hood at the next gas station and it was blown, I replaced it and still nothing(the fuse didn't blow agian either)??? I have now check both bulbs and they are fine. I have power at the fuse block, also at the switch. All the rest of my light and vehicle work fine?!?!?!? Any ideas!!! THANKS
sorry about that it is a 97 f-150 super cab, 2-wheel drive, 4.2 V-6. When I said tail lights I mean just the tail lights. My blinkers and brake lights work fine all the time. I replaced the bulbs to make sure tonight, no good.
Did you just install a trailer wiring harness or anything?? I would check your wiring (up by you spare tire) and make sure there is no broken or shorted wires. I would be willing to bet that your tail light wire is broken. That would explain the blown fuse and why your lights aren't working still. I have had wires wear in that area of my truck before.
Nothing new with the wiring at all. looked abit under there nothing out of the ordinary....inside the black plactic wire wrap????
Yes especially if there are wires sticking out of the split. Get under there and clean the wires off and inspect them thouroughly. You can also get a wire tester and see where you have 12V and where you don't. In other words start twards the front of the truck and work your way back untill your test light doesn't light up. That will give you a very good idea as to where your problem is. Hopefully someone will chime in with the wire color because I can't remember.
thanks for the help, I found the bad wire in the conecter by the spare!!! looks like it was bad for awhile. oh ya it is also the brown wire.....Thanks again
