It has a slot between the bowl and the electronic fuel shut-off. I think that it is a 7/16 in size, but a set of needle nose pliers will get it off as well. There is a rubber oring that is in between the bowl and the carb. Try not to damage it or you will need a new one.
Looks like crap + bowl deterioration and that had the needle stuck.
I used almost a whole can of carb cleaner flushing the carb, cleaning the bowl with a wire brush, and just spraying the crap out of it in general.
Seemed like everytime I soaked it, then tapped it out, more crud specs would fall out of the top onto the float.
Needless to say, I got it very clean, re-assembled too.
Mounted her up, and drained the oil filter.
Put in a quart and half of fresh 10w30, cleaned the magento and flywheel which had bad flash rust from sitting, cleaned the plug too.
After cranking for about 10 seconds she lit off and ran pretty good. Much, much better than I thought she would for sure.
I drove it around the yard for about 15 minutes at varying speeds, she was running perfect when I parked it.
Only thing left of issue....
I noticed when I reassmebled the carb, (used pics from digital camera), the front butterfly valve doesn't close.
I worked the throttle back and forth, saw nothing happening. Almost like a spring had come off previous to this caper.
Rear butterfly which has full motion, so I guess something is missing like I said above, or that front valve has been inoperational since I took ownership.
This weekend, a new oil and fuel filter, and a proper spark plug and we'll be in business.
That would be the choke, for a new lawnmower like that, it is probably an automatic choke. If the choke didn't function, it would have a very very very hard time starting.
