lift kit

i have a 97 extcab ps 4x4 250. iv been looking at lift kits for a while now. i want at least a 4, maybe a six. ive looked at rough country they seem to have the best price, plus our 10% off, but... kits for these trucks are not available with rear leafs but still have upgraades such as steering stabalizers etc.. iv also looked at just about every other company i could find such as procomp skyjacker superlift etc, and all those are alot more money than rough country. most usually come with rear leafs. are these other companies charging more for the name, or is it worth it, if im spendin the money id rather do it right. keep in mind i tow/haul occasoinally, id prefer leafs, and i dont do anything id consider serious off roading and i alradyhave a cracked rear leaf on the driver side.

thanks guys

I have a skyjacker on my 350 and I like it. I know c00n has a skyjacker too and i'm pretty sure hes happy with his. I know you said your not doin serious off roading, but I've got alot of friends really into wheelin, and they dont like rough country. If you ask me payin a little extra for the skyjacker would be worth it but thats just my opinion. I'm sure other people will have somethin to say. Whatever you choose, good luck.

make sure the rear leafs are full leaf packs rather than add a leafs. the add a leaf lets your truck sag really bad at the first sign of weight. you can counter act this with a set of helpers. the plus to add a leafs is a smooth ride but you said you tow alot. another thought! if you have a spring works shop for semis you could have your broken leaf replaced and re arch the whole pack for reasonable

i have a 6 inch all spring lift from skyjacker, i love it and wouldnt trade it for anything. i have installed many different brands on ford trucks and the skyjacker is my favorite of all, its affordable and reliable and they really back their product. it rides so much better then a stock truck and still carries heavy loads excellent. try my links in my signature for pics but no gurantee, webshots has been giving me big probs latley

I agree. I've got the 6" skyjacker on mine. Check my gallery. Sits perfectly level. And I agree it rides alot better.

thanks for the input, skyjacker seems the way to go. there are a bunch of differnt sites, some with rebates and or free shiping, and the options between system and kits and class 1 and 2. i think i need the system class 2. do any of you guys know the best place n price to get em?

and is there any additional parts i need or should look into getting not included

thanks

I'm not sure if you have any truck shows around you, but I picked up my kit at the show in Indy. There were a ton of vendors fighting for business. I got my kit $100 off the lowest website I could find and that included shipping to my door. Same with tires/wheels. Something to think about....but I'm not sure what you guys have available in New York.
