have you gotten this radio in yet? i am waiting to get all the final pieces to get my whole system in at once! (like the probox subwoofers and new front door speakers)
Yes i received it and installed it a week ago. The install was rather simple except for one part.... If you have the subwoofer you need to solder a tiny resistor between two of the ground wires for the subwoofer harness to prevent a "popping" noise when you turn on the key. Other than that, its an AWESOME unit. I installed the bluetooth as well and it works great.
what did you have to do again? i am definetly going to install a sub and i will install it on the non-fading side of course. what ground wires are you talking about. i am going to install the blue tooth as well along with the backup camera!
OK with my f150 i had the factory subwoofer, so crutchfield sent me the F150 harness with the subwoofer rca cables. That harness has a ground wire, two blue wires and the rca cables. The blue wires both connect to the blue wire on the pioneer unit however you will need to put a 5v regulator (sorry, i said resistor earlier) between them. I suck at soldering so i used superglue as the regulator is this tiny thing (can buy at radio shack). its fragile so it was the last thing i did. Without this, my factory sub would "pop" when i turned on the ignition. If your sub does not pop, you likely don't need it.
i tried to install the radio and i'm not getting any bass from the sub. What do you do with the two blue/wht wires. It seems like the amp isn't getting a turn on signal.

I think the blue wire was power antena. Cant remember what the white wire was. Your auto amp turn on lead needs to be hooked up to something that only has power when the key is on. www.the12volt.com can help you figure out what is what.
Yeah i poked around there site for a while and didn't find very much in relation to f-150. The blu/wht wire i'm talking about comes with the factory harness adapter. I goes to two RCA connecting to the sub wire. Didn't have time for pictures. I can't seem to find the amp turn on wire color anywhere. Guess i'll just have to buy the novels that they make for shop manuals.
Ah that's exactly what i was looking for. I already took out the radio and i'm thinking about buying the new 900. It looks pretty cool and i like the built in nav opposed to the dvd game. but thanks.
Thanks a bunch for the info bridge.I got bored tonight and put the headunit in. Kind of annoying since it's raining cats and dogs, but i got it done. I'll post some pictures soon
Anytime. I've been thinking about putting one of the new Pioneer's (like the 900 or the premier 90) in the wife's Expy, however I'm a little skeptical of the MSN Direct service. I'm waiting for some user input on it over at avic411. We use the navtraffic in my Z3 alot around here. I like the fact that the new units are based on solid state memory vs the standard HDD in my Z3. Cool thing about those new units is that you can hook up pretty much any laptop HDD to them via a standard external USB enclosure.
