i have a 96 F-150 4x4 with i believe an aod tranny, it has a shudder when the converter locks up at less than highway speeds, out on the highway it doe not do it tire size is 33 12.50 15. can anyone help me with this?
do a fluid and filter change the transmissions need clean fluid and filters! I had a 1994 F-150 that would do the same thing and i looked at the u-joints and loose bolts and found nothing till i changed the fluid and filter and no more problem! Good luck

Ok, when was the last time you did a complete tune-up? This can cause the shudder you are describing...trust me I've experienced this too! So, I decided to do a complete tune-up... autolite plugs, wires and bronze tipped (not aluminum) cap & rotor. Let me just say that the shudder was gone!! I never thought that the engine would have caused the shudder but , I was wrong! I just wanted to let you know that if your transmission has shudder to also check your engine before you decided to take it to a "tranny" shop just to be sure. Hope this information/experience helps.
