Buy a 79 F150 with everything manual for 4000.00 or less, and really have something different than everyone else.
I am sure you can find a good used manual for 1000 or less and a couple of thousand for labor.
You might have to do some computer work or replace yours to a manual one, but I am not sure.
haha ya i would love a 79!! but ive driven this truck since new with 151,000 miles and id hate to just sale it just like that! and im kinda curious to see how long shell last! but ya it would literally be my dream truck if it was a manual!
ive put a lift and big tires on it so i think a manual tranny would just make her perfect!
thnx for the help i figured it would cost around $4000 but i was just seein if anyone else has done this or knew anything about it.
F150's never came with a manual transmission behind the 5.4L. So you would have to look for a tranny out of a 5.4L SuperDuty. The wiring harness would also be a plus...
Then the question is if the SuperDuty manual tranny will even fit into the F-150 chassis. Good luck!!!!
It should fit, but both crossmembers will have to be modified pretty heavily (Tranny and T-case). Speaking of the T-case...you will also need that from the SD, as the F150's case won't bolt up to the SD's tranny. You could have a custom adaptor plate made however.
AND...with the length of the transmissions being different, you will need new driveshafts made for the front and rear.
Are you sure you are up to the task? It would be cheaper to sell your truck and find a 5.4L/6-spd F250.
