EBP Sensor Mod
EBP Sensor Mod
Does anybody here know how to modify the EBP sensor so it will think it is always getting a good read? I was cleaning my sensor and tube, and I broke the sensor. I know that this can be done, but I don't have any instructions on how. The main reason I don't need the sensor is because I plan on gutting the EBPV. I just want the PCM to think all is o.k.
Thanks
Thanks
I have a eliminator to put in there if you want it..its from de fuser... I had the same thing happen to me and got this from de fuser..I later found out Jody use the reading from the EBPS for his tunes..so I put in a new sensor and have the eliminator in tool box..the EBPS does more then just open and close the EBPV...
Ron,
What do you do about the check engine light that it throws, or how do you get around that? Or is it just the EBPV circuit that throws the Check engine light and you have fooled that leaving the sensor in place?

the eliminator takes care of the code..its a soft code..so no light shows..the one I have eliminates the EBPS but giving a good reading to the PCM..the EBPV will still work with cold temps..to eliminator the EBPV to work..that plug is under the turbo..just unplug it..that has a soft code as well...they make a eliminator for that to

my 97 is unplugged with no issues, I unplugged my 03 X and it threw a check engine light immediatly, Possibly before I started it, so I plugged it back in and the light went away on the next start. So I am not sure what caused the CEL, the open circuit or the pressure high or Low, I modded a buddys EBPV on his 99 to work as a brake and he has never had a CEL, I guess it is a later PCM function or something like that.
the plug for EBPV is just above the blue dot under the turbo in this pic.. there is a wire locking clip on the plug..flip the clip back snd pull the plug out..the EBPV will defalt to open and stay open..

I've done two the the brake mods so the first thing I did when I got my X was unplug the bugger, I am not a big fan but it threw a code so fast it made my head spin. I have auto enginuity now, so I guess I need to pull the plug hook up the computer and see what code it actually throws.
the X has a different set up with the glow plugs..I think there like the CA emission trucks. maybe the signal from the EBPV is messing with it ?? not even sure if it is related..AE will tell you a lot..I really need to start using mine more then I do..there is a lot I don't know using that..I don't even know what I'm looking for most of the time..I ask here then use AE...I am trying like hell to find a good manual on a disk..then I can use AE for play..I will know what I am looking for then..

have you messed with the live sensors yet? I was able to look at my EBP when using my brake monitored EOT on found a thermostat that was running to cool, I found that my X banks trans temp guage is about 30 deg higher than what the PCM sees (which is good cause it was running 220 empty down the free way which is really 180) I can monitor the torque converter lock up... the best bet for all that stuff is plug it in and take the time to cycle through the live sensors available. You are correct on the trouble shooting part though, what we need to do is start a thread that does nothing but address trouble shooting techniques with live data capable computer programs.
I have not done any of that..in my road side link below is a link to AE how to..I have done them..there is a forum on ITP for AE..I haven't been in there for a long time..you can ask questions on how to in there..when you open ITP web page..at the top click on forum..then scroll down near the bottom and you will see a forum for AE question and answers..
