Hi all,
I just purchased a used 2006 EB Expy with a nav system. The clock on the screen has trouble keeping the correct time. Can this have something to do with the version of CDs that are being used? The wholsaler I bought the car from also gave me the 4L version disks and I have been told that they are incompatible with the car and I need the 6L version. I removed the CD altogether and the clock worked great all day but once the car sat overnight, and I started it the next morning, it was back to displaying the incorrect time. Do you really need the most updated CDs to have a working clock (I certainly hope not)? And if I spend the $200 bucks for the upgraded CDs, will that correct my clock issue?
Anyone had experience with this? Even my Ford dealer can't seem to give me an answer.
i cant see how the discs would affect the clock. probably an internal issue. how many miles on the truck? if under 36k, you can get the radio replaced under warranty. on a side note, i have the 2006 discs. i upgraded to them with my 03, but then went with an a/m nav unit anyways. i would sell them at half the price of new ones from navtech. lmk if interested.
04mark, thank you you very much for the info. I didn't think it had anything to do with the disks. The car only has 18K miles so I think I'm going to request a new nav system be insalled at Ford. I would be interested in purchasing your disks. Can you tell me the part # off of the disks? I just want to confirm with Navteq these are the disks I need. Thanks again!
i will check the p/n's when i get home. last i knew, they are the latest version. i bought them in 2006 from navtech. you will almost need the new discs anyways, as the radio exchange companies just send a refurbished radio, not caring which version disc you have, and therefore your original discs may not even work. we had that problem at our dealership here....luckily i had a spare set of discs that i could provide them, as disc upgrades are not covered under the warranty. in exchange for my disc set, they gave me 4 like new(less than 10k miles) michelin ltx m/s tires.
the numbers on the discs are 6L1T*18C912*AA->MA. they also say version 3V. i have the upgrade disc somewhere as well, which you will need. the only thing is i am missing disc 8 in one of the sets, which is the northeast region...but if you aren't coming out this way, then it's no worry. i can make a copy of that disc and include it if you wanted....it just wouldn't look like the rest, but it does work in the unit.
Okay, let me check with Navteq on Monday and I will get back to you. What is the "upgrade" disk? And how would I use that? Don't worry about disk 8. I certainly don't plan on being up in the Northeast in the SUV. I'll touch base on Monday.
you need th upgrade disc to use the updated discs. it must update something in the nav hw. you wont be able to use your original discs once updated, but why would you anyways. ttyl.
Thank you for the info. I actually just got off the phone with Navteq and the most recent disk set for the 2006 Expy is version 2007.1. It was just released in Aug of 2007. Thank you for your offer but I think I'll fork out the extra $100 to have the most updated version. Thanks again.
