Mike's SCT 5 Star on a 2007 5.4
I have Mike's 5 Star on my 2008 V-10 and it runs much better than I expected. It replaced a DiabloSport Predator which did me a fine job for many, many miles, but it does not compare with the power and shifting on Mike's 5 Star. So the wife has a 2007 Lincoln LT (fancy F-150) and it has been running a Superchip in the 91 octane performance mode for about 30,000 miles. Runs pretty good but she was complaining about the mileage at 17mpg. I ordered Mike's 5-Star SCT in 87 economy, 87 tow/performance, and 89 tow/performance. Received the 5 Star and couldn't make myself load just the 87 economy so I did the 87 econ/perf instead. It runs as good if not better than the Superchip at 91 performance. I filled it up with 87 octane(now at $2.99 in S. Texas) and so far, it is showing at 19 mpg and just me driving it like I stole it. The wife is in Idaho so I get to hotrod her truck. Anyway, I HIGHLY recommend you all get a tuner from Mike's 5 Star if you really want extra performance or additional economy. He really knows his stuff and he also has a Christmas special going on. BTW Mike, thanks for the T shirt, I will wear it with pride.

You should be scared my friend, be very scared . All I run is the 93 tune, it runs better on that tune, I get better mpgs on that tune (I lose 3 mpg on 87) and it is just so damn fun to drive on that tune!!

Haha thanks for the endorsement Mitch!
I know I'm going to love what the 93 tune will do for the truck. I think I'm more frightened by having to tell the wife that I'm putting 25+ gallons (30 gallon tank) of premium in each week just so that the smile on my face can be bigger.

Imagine what it was costing me a few years back when gas was upwards of $4.25 a gallon for high test, I think it got even a little higher than that cause I know it was taking $150 to fill it up

Oh, and you will love that 93 tune! To me there's a big seat of the pants difference between that and the 87 tune, much better pick up off the line. Comes in handy when your trying to merge out into traffic and you have that one a-hole who is flying up the road doing faster than the posted speed and he won't let in

Well, I know there are some out there who argue this point with me buuuut.... I end up spending more time at the pump using 87 octane than I do using 93. I just get way better mileage with 93 than I do 87. Roughly 100 miles better a tankful, and that is a fact. For me anyway.

Haha, yeah no problem..... or sorry. Not sure how I should respond MC. You know, as far as the fuel mileage thing goes, there are so many different variables involved when one tries to compare results from one vehicle to the next, that I feel no one individual is going to get the same results as another unless that person is driving the same exact truck or drives with the same exact driving habits as the other. Plus there's road conditions to consider, unless that person just happens to be following the other down the road, they're results are most assuredly going to be different. That's what can't stand about all those fuel mileage posts you see where some one is asking what you are getting and how they can replicate it, or why their's is so much different than yours. Too many variables involved. Anyway, I'm not saying you won't get better gas mileage, I'm just throwing out more food for thought

Oh I know what your intentions were/are Mitch. No worries at all! I have a pretty heavy foot, and a short in-town commute (about 3.5 miles one way) so my mileage is much less that most anyway (13.3mpg combined for 15,000+ miles). I would run the 93 tune if it gave me a 10% increase in economy, as that is about the price % increase of 93 over 87 in my area right now.

That's cool. Just to give you an idea of the differences I see, when I run 93, I get around 17.5 to 18 and when I run 87 I get around 14.5 to 15, sometimes that number is actually lower, and of course it all depends on how I drive, in other words, whether I'm having fun or just being patient

Back to the OP.
Want to know how cool Mike is?
I emailed him last night about my 91 Perf tune. Basically I wanted to replace it with a 93 Perf tune. Instead of selling me another tune for about $30+ he simply told me how to adjust the parameters of my 91 to account for the slightly higher octane I want to run.
Who else would do that?
