Question truck won't start

Hi, as some of you know I have been having trouble starting my truck lately. The truck is a 93, F350 7.3 IDI , i recently discovered that i don't have a block heater, & i read on another thread that the batteries could be low causing the glow plugs not to get hot enough, so this morning i charged both batteries ( they weren't that low ) and still the truck turns over but not even trying to start although i noticed that i now get the white smoke when the engine is cranking. Is it possible that i could have burnt up one or more of the glow plugs by cranking it so much? I spent some time looking at the engine trying to locate glow plugs, all i saw was 8 things ( 4 on each side ) that are screwed into the engine & have fuel lines running to them i assume these are the injectors. Still don't know where glow plugs are located or how to check them.

PS: the truck runs good once i get it started

check your glow plugs disconnet them from the wiring to the truck and use a test light, clip of test light on the + batt terminal.. then poke the glow plug end with teh point of the test light do this to each one and note them are lighting the light brite, not at all, or dim.. the brite lighting ones are good.. the rest replace..

The GP's would be in board of the injectors. They will have electrical wires attached.

You can always get them from FordPartsOnline for around $10.99. Not to hard to change unless the tip has swollen on something other than Motorcraft/Beru. Do a search on this site for changing glow plugs before you start. There are tips for safe removal. What you don't want is the tip to break off and fall into the cylinder.

just do it slow and after its threaded out spray some pb blaster down the glow plug to help dislodge some carbon from the tip and lube it to come out, then just turn the glow plug right to left a few times with your fingers tell it loosens up and pull up while turning.. spray more lube down the hole if necessary.. but dont fill the engine with pb blaster.. really just a squirt or 2 should do it.. put the new ones in with antiseeze on the threads.

Just a tip.

The only plugs you like to use is Motorcraft/Beru.
They will last

Sources for Beru/motorcraft Glow plugs:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...ghlight=online

Autozone is trying to clear its stock of their motorcraft glow plugs for good, and you might not be able to them there anymore.

The 87 motor should have ZD 9 glow plugs.

Autozone is discontinuing the Motorcraft/Beru glow plugs, so the prices are reduced, when they are gone they will not get any more.
