Bad hissing from hydroboost...help

Bad hissing from hydroboost...help
For a few months now my brakes have been sticking on slightly. There will be a pop under the dash and I feel the brakes release. I decided I would do an experiment and shim the master cylinder away from the booster about 1/4 inch. My brake sticking has went away so I think it was the hydrobooster sticking. Well now a month later after the shim there is a horrible hissing coming from under the dash anytime my power steering is under a load. However, when there is a noise and I push the brakes like turning into a parking space, there is no noise. It only makes noise when its steering only. No noise when brake only or both brake and steer. Other than that, the truck drives just like it has for the last 190000 miles. Oh yea and I flushed the PS fluid about 6 months ago and put in ATF. Its obvious I need a new booster but do I ned a new pump too, its not very noisey at all.
