Ok here goes, about x-mas time my mileage has fallen from about 16mpg to about 12 mpg. No change in driving habits, idle is minimal. I've tried resealing up pipes, new fuel fiters, new 6637, changed trans fluid to syn, rear ends fluid, eng oil to 10w-40 syn. another new 203 t-stat. drive under 2000rpm all the time, tires inflated to 75psi, fill up at the same truck stop all year round, tried different fuel ( got worse 9.7 mpg) no brake drag, 4x4 and hubs are unlocked. Anybody think of any thing else let me know.
Mine had also fallen off. Took the suggestion listed in another post and had a look @ the Exhaust backpressure valve and it was almost totally plugged. Cleaned it up per Guzzles web page and changed the fuel filter at the same time. Mpg jumped about 2 mpg so far, driving around town. want to see what the difference will be on the road yet.

I sure would appreciate a link to this page. I have no idea where to look for this valve. Mine is sure to be in bad shape.
Probably winter fuel, wait until spring time, and see if your mileage goes up.
I run straight #2 (with additive) and they have had winter blend up here since november 1st. I already asked the manager at the truck stop. I thought of that too.
I usually get spectacular mileage with my truck, to the point that other members here have all but called me too dumb to do simple mathematics. But every winter mine drops off to the point that it is not even any fun checking it anymore.
well i finally figured out some of my problem. I had four seperate items giving me a headache. first found exhaust manifold on right side leaking. replaced gaskets. ebpv stuck slightly closed. freed that up. my new air filter i install started coming apart and "clumpped up". replace air filter. check boost cooler. was fine. this one took a while but found my boost cooler partialy filled with oil. I have had my ccv done for a couple months but when it got really cold it was restricting my air flow and not making great power. took it out and finally cleaned it out with solvent and steamed out. now runs great. thought i'd share my experiences with everyone.
