Hello,
I want to get the 4" stainless steel mbrp exhaust system for my truck. To be more precise it is the MBRP XP Series Exhaust System S6200409. I want to know if anyone has installed this system themselves because i would be saving a lot of money if i install it myself. I have a 2000 F350 4x4 crew longbed. I wanted to know if anyone installed it themselves and could tell me if it was easy or if it was too difficult to install on your own. There is supposed to be no welding, but i want to know what u have to say about that also.
Thank you so much.
I can't be much help here as I have the exact same setup, but had it done at a muffler shop. Took them about 45 minutes including removing the old. If I were not so old and had a way to get the truck high enough off of the ground to do it I could have certainly done it. Not in 45 minutes, but it sure ain't a big task.
Im about to do it within the next two months - from what i hear it helps to have 2 people because parts of the old system are a bit heavy. It helps to have one hold and one go to town on the old parts. Also - one hold the up pipe while the other fastens it down from the engine compartment.
The old system you just use a sawzall to cut into bite size pieces. I did see 1 man do the up pipe by himself, but he does it for a living. What am I doing in this thread in the first place???
I put that system on my truck in two hours, using a saws-all for the old system and a lift to work under. That was with a helper. And you won't have to cut the extension pipe, either. Mine is a short bed, so I had to cut it. You'll love it. I found it at Thoroughbred Diesel for $490 shipped to my door with a nice tip. I think there is a cheaper place to get it now, but I don't remember where that is.
EDIT: If you don't have a helper, slide the down-pipe from above after you have the rest in place (loosely clamped). Attach the down-pipe to the rest of the system, then use a floor jack to lift it roughly in place. Then work the down-pipe onto the turbo outlet and monkey with it until you get the clamp in place. After that, all you have to do is work your way to the rear adjusting & tightening the clamps. Shouldn't be that bad of a job alone.
I did mine a few months ago. Took me about 2 hours with a helper. No lift, just got under and did it. I recommend a helper to line things up, much easier, especially the down pipe. Good luck!
Thank you all.... I really appreciate.... Yeah, that is all the convincing i needed....i will have a friend help me to install it.... Thanks again...I really appreciate it
i did my siverline exhaust by myself with a little help on the downpipe, and lookin to make sure everything was even because i'm runnin duals. wasn't that bad and i didn't cut anything i just removed the crossmember
BTW, I think you have to slide the DP in from the bottom. Can't exactly remember which way it went, but it will be obvious when you get to that point. Also, some of the DP clamps are rusty, so it may help to soak the bolt with some PB Blaster or equivalent the night before you start. Mine wasn't bad at all, but I've heard that some have had problems with it.
i did my mbrp cool duals by myself. had my wife hold the downpipe for me though. after that, its a cakewalk. very easy. took a couple hours but its nice knowing i did it myself.
I did find a place for $417 delieverd though. I can't really remember the website but I have it on my computer at home. I am at my parents right now getting some help with my ball joints. If you are interested in this price email me at jhrrsnvll@aol.com or pm me and I can send you the website as soon as I get home, and yes that is also with the tip. Best price I found If anyone has a better price let me know please.
I did my MBRP 4" cool duals on my dually myself in a couple of hours make sure you have some good blades for your sawsall it was an easy job. Oh yeah I used jackstands.
