Good Evening,-If you don't mind I'm cross posting from the Ford Aerostar group here to kindly ask a question in regards to my fathers 2002 Ranger Super cab. The passenger side window won't go down and we were wondering if any of you guy's had the same problem.
In short-Pass. window won't go down from either side.
What have any of you done to fix yours?
My parents are visiting from Illinois and I'm down here in Florida. I would like to help him fix it soon since they will be driving back in bad weather come this weekend.--------Thanks Boz

Do they even try to go down? Can you hear the electric motor groaning but nothing happens? Or just nothing at all when you hit the switch?
If no groaning then it could be dirty switches. I've had that in my '94 Explorer and simply popping out the switch assy and cleaning up the contacts fixed the problem. You might also look and see if there's a fuse for the power windows and check that too.
I once had the pass. window going down REALLY slow. I took the door panel off and sprayed some white lithium grease in the window tracks and fixed that problem.
Many times the switch goes bad or the window is stuck to the inner molding from a sticky substance or some debris wedged around the window frame causing it to jam.
you need to take the door apart and unplug the window motor. get a multi meter to the 2 wires. when you go up or down you should have 12v and when you go the other way you should have -12volts. if you do then the motor is bad. if you don't then you have a bad switch or a wiring problem. you will need to get a wiring diagram to see which wires are which. you should have a 12v supply going to the switch. if you don't then check for a bad fuse. if you do have 12v but nothing coming out then more than likely the switch would be bad. if you need a wiring diagram just give me your email and i will send it to you
Well lets see, he said the window wouldn't go down when switched from both sides, so that would suggest to me that there is a power distribution problem to the motor, a ground problem to the motor, or a problem with the motor itself.
If neither the drivers or passenger side windows work, as suggested, you'll need to look up stream from the drivers side master control panel, at the power window relay & power fuse, located in the underhood power distribution box, drivers side, between the fender & brake master cylinder.
Once you know you have power to the drivers side master control panel, pull the passenger side door window switch panel & check the #3 position LB/BK wires connection to the switch. It should have B+ to it from the drivers side switch, with the ignition switch in run.
If you have B+ voltage there, with the window switch activated to the down position, you'll need to check to see if B+ voltage is getting through the switch contacts to the R/Y wire which goes to the window motor, through it & back to the window switch on the Y/R wire, through the switches ground contacts & back to the divers side master switch panel on the T/LB wire to ground position #200 on a Black wire out of the drivers side master control panel.
So if the motor gets power to it, but won't run, with the passengers side window switch in the down position, ground the Y/R or T/LB wire & see if it'll run.
If it won't run, then pull the door panel & check the wiring to make sure B+ on the R/Y wire coming from the passenger side window switch is getting to the motor & it's getting a ground on the Y/R lead.
So if the motor is getting B+ & has a ground, but won't work, it's likely bad.
If you aren't getting B+ to the motor from the passenger side window switch, on the R/Y lead, when the switch is pressed in the down position, with the ignition on, suspect the wiring between the window switch & motor.
Same for the Y/R lead, if you can ground the Y/R lead at the motor & it'll run, it's likely open betwen the motor & wndow switch.
From these descriptions & a little step by step logic, you should be able to isolate the problem area.
Thank you so much folks for all of the great opinions. I will help my father take a look at it tomorrow. Heck , we got too. The Super Bowl is on Sunday. I hope the Giants tear the Pats a new one.

Look at your wiering where it flex's at the drivers door you may have a broken wire there or the drivers side switch is bad . I would bet , from my experience that your problem is in the wires switches and motoers seldom go bad , those wires flex everytime you open or close the drivers door . check it out and please report back 1 Hth, gh
Must be the ranger that has the problems.. I have a 2002 xtra cab 4x4 and the driver window still works but the glass tilts forward when you roll it up. motor sounds fine. goes up and down fine other then it tilts. Would this be the mounting brackets on the window or the spindle?
