Ok, I hate to post about this because I know it's like beaten to death over and over, but my problem just won't go away, and I couldn't find any past posts where it keeps recurring.
My windows (yeah, both sides) were working intermittently. Seemed the motors were getting weak/stuck. I tap with the hammer and all was good for a while. It seemed to help if I gently tapped the down switch just enough to make it where they weren't all the way up, but not near far down enough to leak at all. That eventually quit working, so I ended up doing the repair them myself route with advanced auto parts' lifetime warranty window motors. They worked for a while, and now, I have more issues.
Passengers' side: The window goes down if you use the passengers' side switch, but not up. Works just fine with the drivers' side switch. NOTE: This was not the case before, neither drivers nor passengers side switch made any difference for either side before I replaced the motors about a year ago).
Drivers' side: does not function at all. I can hear the relay click under the dash when I push the switch, yet nothing happens with the window. This is the same as before I replaced the motors last year. Very audible click from the relay, yet nothing happening.
Has anyone else experienced this same issue? If so, what fixed it for good, or is it still doing it?
If no one has had this same issue, what should I be looking for as the culprit here?
Any help would be appreciated. I live in Orlando, FL, and most of the year I have to use the a/c, so windows are not a problem as I don't use them much, but now that the weather is finally cooling off, I want to use the windows, but they won't work. It's so aggravating.
I have this problem too: I am having the same sort of noise after trying to toggle driver's side window motor switch on and off (up/down). This ticking noise coinciding with toggling is coming from under dash from visible 4 relay area (I assume one relay for each of 4 motors) but replacing one relay from operating windows does not fix the problem. Are all bad? No, can't be. Do all four need to be good for any one to work? Not likely I wouldn't think.
I ended up taking the motor back out and back to Advanced Auto parts (where I bought it). They just gave me a new one, and it fixed my drivers' side problem. I still can't explain why the passengers' side will work fine from the drivers' side, but the switch on the passengers' side only works going down, it won't go up from the passengers' side.
I would say the next step would be to get a test light and see if the passenger's side switch might be bad or for a bad connection, then go from there. If the window is working fine from the drivers switch it would mean the problem isn't the motor. Hope you get your windows fixed.

Just went through a similar problem with our 2002 F-150 super cab. The drivers window would roll down but not up! Assuming the motor is good (cause only the polarity is changed to roll up window), I pulled the switches, found the hot lead at the plug and with a jumper wire was able to roll the window up. Went to Rockauto.com and ordered the switch. Able to fix it without pulling the door apart...
