I've had my share of fun on the little Fords but most of my tractor experience is with an old "Poppin Johnny"
Dad had two B Model John Deeres; the first is a mid 30's, it does have steel wheels but not starter..hand crank only. the 2nd is early 40's, before they went to stamped steel frame rails. It does have electric start but its just as easy to crank by hand with an old tire iron (watch out for kickbacks!!!)
Pop chug chug, Pop chug chug, Pop chug chug, Pop pop pop chug chug.............
my grandmother still has the old farmall, a friend of mine told me it was the biggest one made in its day. I dont know much about them but its the one that looks like a three wheeler and has the axle for dual rear tire's. I have a picture of my grandpa giving me a ride on it when I looked to be about 4 years old. I hope to have it one day, I know nobody in my family would restore it and keep it. They would only let it rust or sell it as is.
oh yeah i like the last one for sure !! was this from one of the local farm shows stu ???? i keep squinting at the background to hopefully see a familiar landmark .
Time seems to fly, but I think it was 2006. One of the big tractor associations had a national show east of here, over by Rantoul, and had Ford as the featured marque. As you all might understand from my interest in M-Hs, those Elenco 4x4s are real special to me. One sold on upay a week or so ago for about $16 thousand. They used Dodge PW front axles with proprietary transfer cases, etc. A fellow named Tony Jacobs now owns the rights to the product line and is reproducing them. That show was interesting because we normally tend to get excited about Funk V-8 and I-6 conversions when we see one, but heck, they were everywhere at that show.
Nice pics Truckdog. Too bad none of them a have a flathead though.
We have a 1966 Ford 3000 with a heavy duty loader on the front that gets used regularly here on the farm. None of this fancy pants restored stuff. Rebuilt the 3 cylinder once about ten years ago and it still works great.
