what year do I have?

How can I find out what year my 460 is? It was swapped into my '79 F150 custom 4x4 before I bought it. I have had it for about a year, and I was wondering if I can look for a casting number and anything and where on the block? thanks

The year of the block is cast on the side of the block D0 is 1970/ D2 is 1972
and so on C8 would be 1968. The heads also have casting numbers just below the valve covers.

71 Block 73 Heads both are about as good as they get for a solid daily driver. You can easily get 10:1 compression with those heads, and that is the limit with pump gas anyway.

No Problem. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do my 460 in my 1988 F250. I just rebuilt it. 466 ci with a Cobra Jet cam. It pulls my racecar like nobodys business, sometimes I forget it's back there. LOL
