Sony head unit question
Allright, my truck had a Sony XR-CA330 headunit in it when I bought it. It works fine and I have no complaints except for one.
Whenever you turn the truck off it makes this "deedle-dee, deedle-dee, deedle-dee" noise that drives me up the wall.
One of my friends told me it's an alarm to remind you to take your faceplate with you, but i don't and won't.
Is there any way to turn the dang thing off?

Well I asked around a littel more and apparently you can disable it if you bypass the internal amp.
Sounds like I'm just living with the chime or just being sure NOT to get a sony unit if I upgrade to a CD deck.

Damn thing drove me nuts.... When my son was born he would sleep in the truck all the time. He'd sleep through music, and the sound of my truck. but as soon as i shut it off that little chime would wake him up.

My Sony CDX-MP40 manual says, " [SEL] + [6]: BEEP - to turn the beeps on or off." I believe this means press the Select and preset 6 buttons at the same time. It also says that the beep only works when the built-in amp is used. I take this to mean that the beep will work or may be turned off if you use the built-in amp. If the built-in amp is not used, you will not have the beep option.
Hope this helps. The stereo is about three years old. In case you need it, the [SEL] + 3 is the auto-scroll function and the [SEL] + 4 is the manual display function.

Is that the beeps after you shut off the stereo? Or just beeps while you press a button? or both?

Its the beeping that sounds after the unit powers off. Its a security reminder [that's what they say anyway].
