My '65 had an auto choke. CERTAIN Mustangs, like Shelby and maybe 428CJ had manual chokes.
Our '65 200, my '65 289, my buddies '66 200, another 66 200 I swapped carbs on, my old GF's '70 302, all auto choke. Just about every Mustang I've ever looked at stock had an auto choke.

Conversions were common in the 1960's. They would stick and flood the engine, especially at high altitiude and in very cold weather. Standard automatic chokes on Ford passenger cars date back to the 1950's.
