Holley 4160 choke issue

I have a holley 4160 electric choke. I am having trouble with the fast idle kicking off. The choke cam has mulitple steps that it gradually drops down on and it hangs up on the last one. If I manually hold the choke plate open with my hand and tap the throttle, the cam will fall and the truck will idle normal. So I figured there was too much spring tension on the choke plate, so I rotated the cap to loosen it. Once its loose enough that the cam will fall and the choke plate opens on its own, I have no choke on first startup because the spring tension is so loose. The choke plate doesnt seem to have any binding and i tried lubricating all the linkage. Anyone run into this before?

I have experienced the same on my Holley, this the first electric choke carb I have ever used and I hate it. It seems that it takes an extremely long time for the choke plate to completely open so the cam will drop down. I have fooled with the spring tension and with the hot idle adjustment screw and got it a little better but I'm still not happy with it. The other problem I hate is after the engine has run and warmed up and you shut it off and let it sit for a short period when you restart it the damn choke comes back on which shouldn't be needed especially when its a 100 degrees out side.

All I can suggest is checking your voltage going to the choke that it is sufficient enough the heat it up?
