Hello everyone. I have the TSB and read most (there is a lot of them) threads on plug removal. My question is a little different. I was wondering if anyone has changed plugs on a newer truck yet (2007 preferably) and encountered any troubles. I have the TSB (<--for search/reference) but just wondering if anyone had broken plugs in a newer motor. Right now I have 12600 miles on my ride and will most likely do the S/C install before 15,000. I also have the "special" ford socket on order for removing the plugs.
If you have the old style cylinder heads on your truck you will have problems with the spark plugs breaking........
Ford came out with a new style head in October 2007 I think, please don't quote me on that...
I highly suggest you use the Kroil just as a precaution.
You could put your plugs back in(don't need to replace them, b/c you'd just be putting the same style back in), but just put some Nickel anti seize on the ground electrode, and possibly the threads if you wanted.

The stock plugs are equivalent to the HTO's that are supplied with the Roush kit?
Like I said, with such low miles, you would have a high success rate of taking the plugs out without breaking them, and putting some nickle anti seize on the ground sheild, sticking them back in, and waiting to do it again or there might be a fix latter on....? The nickle anti sieze will protect from the sheild seizing into the head and breaking off latter, b/c it won't let carbon build up on it.
It'd be a good idea to put the nickle anti seize on now rather than waiting untill you get 50k miles if you plan to do it at all.
I bought an 08 in December, the 29th to be exact. How can I tell for sure which heads I have on my 5.4? Is there a way to determine this and if so how?
All 08s are supposed to have the redisigned heads, and I'm not sure, but I hear there's a chance some 07s have them to.
The design change was in or around 10/07, and I'd put money on that.
Look at the build date on the info tag on the drivers door jam.
