Hello, it has been a while since I've posted. I have a 2000 F-150 4x4 w/4.6L V8. Thanks to many of you out there, you have helped me replace some brakes, IACV, and a few other items and my truck has been trouble-free for years.
On Sunday my Service Engine Soon light appeared. I discovered if you press the trip meter reset button (when the engine is off) and turn on the vehicle, a series of "screens" will appear where I can see what the engine RPM is, lamp tests, tranny MPH, all sorts of useful screens.
I have two questions regarding this. 1. Does anyone have a print out of what each of these screens mean? Some make sense, but others, like "dtc5284", "de6c040", don't.
2. Does this screen show error codes, or do I need a separate tool to find these?
Either way I'll probably take this to my mechanic, but if it is something easy to fix, I'd like to give it a shot. Thanks!
