I have a '96 F250 w/ 7.3 turbo powerstroke. Can anyone tell me what I should do to confirm that engine from another truck would be a direct replacement to mine?
Would all turbo 7.3's produced in '96 fit? Mine has a manual trans, do I have to find a truck with the same tranny or would a 7.3 w/ an auto still bolt up?
Any engine from a 94.5 to 97 will be a direct fit. Also the long block minus injectors and turbo/intake plenums are a bolt in but they lack the lop on the cam to drive the fuel pump. It doesn't matter what tranny the engine has as they bolt up the same.
Few things not the same. But has most to do with year.
BS things like alt and ac are reversed, Power steering pump. (remote res or not), Exhaust mani on e not the same. All minor BS stuff.
It only becomes more work if no boss for the fuel pump and splits vs singles.
