I've got a 2007 F250 SD Regular Cab XL. Gasser. I'm thinking about trading it for a 2004 F350SD Lariat Dually Diesell. Smart move or what? The 2004 has 60,000 miles on it.
yea man, i agree. Whats so bad about the 07 that you want to downgrade to an older truck? I don't think I could do that, unless I was in over my head $$ wise.
I'm putting a lot of miles on this 07 and when i'm towing the gas is crazy. I'm just at a starting point. I just want some opinions on this and especially the 2004 powerstroke with 60k on it. If it's a problem year for this engine or truck? I test drove it today and it's sweet but long term i don't want to do myself in....with problems on the 2004.
I bought an 05 in september. It has had its share of problems. Mostly my fault (edge tuner). But they are all worked out now and the truck runs great. Get an OASIS report on it. There is a thread in the 6.0 thread just post the VIN and someone will hook you up. Come on over to the darkside, we'll get ya taken care of. Lots of knowledgable guys. Let me know if you have any questions.
you may be trading for a headache most owners run those till over a 100k plus which makes me wonder why they want to get rid of it jmho
5.4 are great engines. Put a 7X16 enclosed trailer loaded with mowers and equipment and you're gas bill will make you blind in one eye. 5.4 are great if you're not towing a lot.

In a word, "YES"... the '03 and '04 6.0L PSD were poor years for that engine. Lots and lots of FORD buy backs, etc. IMO...stay away...
Just curious...but what kind of load (weight) do you tow? What gears do you have on the '07? It might make more sense to do a gear swap than purchase an older truck. Especially if you tow heavy and often.
You will probably lose money on the 07 if you trade it in..... a lot more than you will spend on gas for the 07. Unless you just want another truck that bad, I would keep the 07 and drive my money out of it.
Just because its an 04 with 60k miles doesn't mean its a lemon or not worthy..
I bought my 04 with 24k miles on the truck Jan 1st, 2007 for $25,000.. Wasn't a damn thing wrong with it, OASIS was perfect, the truck was perfect.. We had it looked over 3 times.. It didn't start breaking parts until I started defying the structural integrity of the block :-P
It is not uncommon to see an 04 with less than 100,000 miles.. So ya'll can nip that in the rear end..

The 03 and 04 were not the problem child of the Superduty Era... There are PLENTY of 03's that run just fine.. and a ton of 04 without a problem.. The issue between those two years was the location of the ICP.. Being under the turbo, it was subjected to extreme heat that caused premature failure.. Reason they moved it to the Valve Cover..
Other than that, there isn't a single thing different across all the platforms.. Sure a bolt might be missing, thats common in any machinery industry.. Doesn't warrant that whole year of production horrible..
