like the other post said....get oasis to see if there are any bad trends. got my apr build 04 and the only complaint i have is the bell housing oil leak. Dealer would fix that if i would quit driving it long enough for them to fix. otherwise she pulls and rides great. pulled a 26' tt 2000 miles.....10 mpg, otherwise 17. luck of the draw i guess.
mine was serviced regularly before i got it and i change oil @ 5k fuel filters @10.

D8...who you calling a hater? I realize that a lot of '03 and '04 6.0L PSD are good engines...that does not negate the fact that a lot weren't. It is because FORD had so many problems with those years (in particular)...that the PSD name has been tarnished. It also proves why FORD has been having problems with Navistar and warranty claims. You and Storm (and others) are lucky...and purchased GOOD 6.0L PSD, but the OP came looking for some opinions and facts...that is all I am trying to do...

OBTW: I am no hater of any FORD...but facts are facts. It should be noted that the 6.0L did have a lot of problems in those years.

I stopped counting the PCM re-flashes that came out...but you'all can enlighten me? Plus...doesn't the 6.0L PSD in '03 and '04 have an EGR issue? I recall...most PSD owner's say not to let the engine idle for long periods...or the EGR will get plugged. Massive carbon build-up with specific cleaning instructions...or even a procedure to unplug (by pass) it...all together. Something about head gaskets blowing also comes to mind. Or the all to familiar mains leaking. I shouldn't even mention the over heating issues that the 6.0L PSD has had...either.

FWIW: The '08 6.4L PSD...has addressed many of the 6.0L PSD issues...

Agreed with many suggesting on getting an Oasis. That should help making a decision.

Biz, I guess you missed the little yellow guy laughing at the end. I'm not trying to start a fight, just having some fun. Yes I know the 6.0 isn't the best motor ever created, but like Storm said seems like whenever someone asks about the 6.0 people always reply stay away from the 03-04 it was a problem child. It's just not completely true. But as for the "hater" thing it was just joking around. But I'd bet my paycheck there are alot more GOOD 03-04 6.0's out there than what some give credit for. Brwolfjr, I had to take off my RanchHand front just because of that, won't work with the plow set-up. I have a stock bumper on for the winter and I'll get the big boy back on when Spring hits

If I recall correctly there is only a total of 7 Flashes for the entire line.. 03-04 did not have specific PCM Flashes.. So thats out the door..

EGR problem is a problem on ALL trucks! If your relating that to Coolant Blowout.. Again that's not even specific to 03-04.. Got a buddy with a souped up 05 6L, EGR Blockoff, Headstuds, still blows coolant..

Headstuds.. AGAIN all across the board.. 03-07, Ford acknowledges the horrible Torque-to-Yield bolts as incapable of providing sufficient hold down.. Will they fix it? Hell no, cost to much..

Sure there is a fair share of 03-04 that just flat out croak.. It happens, again it could happen to an 07.. It's production.. Common sense.. No product, whether engine or engineering of toliet paper will ever be 100% identical from one to the other.. Just how manufacturing goes..

Facts and honesty are a major plus in this business.. Folks want truth.. But one thing Folks don't want, is a crowd of 80 people immediately saying "STAY AWAY FROM 03-04 TRUCKS!"

Thats just a little TOO far..

Anyways.. That's all I got to say.. Flame on.. Either way it don't matter me to me.. My 04 runs strong and will always run strooooong :-P

Oh...ok...you are talking about the entire line of 6.0L PSD's...as having the same issues. Interesting that you would include the '05-'07 crowd here.

Still facts are facts...and the OP should be made aware.

For example if someone came on the forum asking about the good/bad of the V10 2v. I would give them an honest answer based on the year they were interested in. Doesn't hurt my feelings that the V10 2v has and still does have some short comings. But a newbie looking for answers deserves the truth as best we know it.

Cheers!
