Random "No Start"
DC15 CONTINUOUS DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) P1212
Note: This code may set after a high-pressure oil system repair (i.e., injector change). Drive vehicle to clear air from system after repair, and clear code.
Continuous DTC P1212 indicates that there was no ICP detected during crank (long crank time).
Possible causes:
high-pressure oil system repair
empty/low oil reservoir at crank
low engine oil level or incorrect viscosity
IPR circuit fault
damaged low-pressure oil pump
damaged IPR valve
damaged ICP sensor
damaged high-pressure oil pump
Check engine oil level.
Perform KOEO On-Demand Self Test to verify ICP/IPR circuit faults are not present at this time.
Also check to make sure you don't have any chaffed wires. Next time you get the no start, try wiggling the wiring harnesses under the hood, especially the wires to the ICP. Chaffed wires can cause a PCM short to ground which results in a no start that seems to miraculously cures itself.
I had one of those on the main engine wiring harness, but the glow plug light & water in fuel light acted funny.
Thanks again!
Same starting problems.. very random, and usually the only solution for it to start back is giving it a few minutes. I have waited anywhere from 5 mins to 30 minutes for it to successfully start back up. It seems like the more i try to start it the longer it takes.
Unlike the OP, after replacing my ICP and pigtail the problem did not go away. I was really hoping that would do the trick, but no such luck. Additionally, I had taken it to the dealer but they couldn't reproduce the problem and blamed it on my chip being loose. They removed the chip, but it is still having the issue. no luck there.
My question.. since it seems to start back up after sitting for a little while could this be an issue related to the alarm system? I have a ford system, no remote start. Or does this sound more like an issue with the oil pressure system? are there any other sensors to look for besides the ICP? Dealer said it was not throwing any codes.
Also, I dont believe it is the CPS as I have replaced it before and I have no problems once the truck is running. Runs like a champ.
