Hey all,
How is everybody doing? Long time no talk. I have been super busy with work over here in Hawaii.
Anyways, I bought a the Autometer Cobalt Pyrometer gauge from RiffRaff Diesel Performance and I will soon be buying the Trans Temp Gauge as well. I already have the drill and tap set, the two slot pillar gauge mount, & the extra wiring and switches so that I can simultaniously dim my dash and gauge lights.
The only issue is that I have not put in gauges before and I am looking for someone to help me out with the install in Western Washington (Fall City), or Central Washington (Ellensburg) when I get back in late september/ early october.
I have seen some DIY directions for installing gauges but the first time around I want to make sure I have help since this truck is my baby. Also, it would be nice to not pay an arm and a leg for a shop to do it.
Is anybody going to be in my neck of the woods around that time that could help? I'll buy beer and throw some cash your way to help.
You might shoot Tom (Onlinehunter)iirc a message. I think he was going to be getting a chip this summer and probably some gauges. I'm sure if you bought the beer he would supervise you doing the work.
hey Bryce, good to see you back on here. I'm sure you will be just fine putting the gauges in, hell I did mine myself & you've fooled with more wiring & switches on just that truck than I ever have. Especially if you're getting your stuff from Clay, he has great instructions on all his stuff from what I've seen. While on the Clay subject his FRX works great on these trucks.

Thanks Man. Its good to be back. So clay sends the DIY instructions with the gauges? I opened the box and looked at the tools, wiring, and pretty gauge but for some reason didn't notice if there was instructions haha. You know how that goes. And I have done a fair amount of wiring stuff, It's just the drilling into things and wiring into my stock set up that worries me.
I dont have access to the instructions right now because I am out of state. Is there any DIY step by step threads on here for that? I am mostly just excited to jump on it when I get back so I want to be prepared.
FYI.: I'm also buying brand new rubber and 18" wheels when I get back . I'm pumped.
Thanks again for the pillar mount. Looks like before too long it'll actually be put to use
If you are going to drill into the manifold make sure you use a high quality drill bit as the cheap one tends to break off.
Also the pillar goes over the oem one.
Thanks.
That helps a lot. So even mine goes over the oem one? I have the E99. That means I will have to drill holes in the oem pillar to run the wires through to the gauges?

Yupp. You take the stock pillar off and lay the gauge pod over it and mark it with a sharpie where the hole needs to be.
That link that Grant sent you for Diesel Manor are great, the drilling & all that ain't much to it...lol You'll be fine & put some pics when you put the new shoes on the truck, ought to look good with the 18" on there.
Late to the game, but if you are over here in MT, we can knock it out, not alot to it, just time. The infamous job been eating me up as well. And for the record, Team Belgrade works for beer, lol.
the trans should have a port with a plug in it, wrench out put sensor in and the boost u can tie into a couple of places the egt one ull drill a hole in the driver side manifold and tap its not to hard
