Washer System Help Please!

Since I'm still waiting for my TN BB replacement turbo, after seizing a TN drop-in unit Smoked TN drop-in turbo. I've decided that other fixes should be addressed while I wait, BWD has no idea when I'll have the replacement turbo. So...

My washer fluid system is messed up. The pump runs, but fluid barely comes out of the nozzles. The truck has been parked inside for 2 weeks, and the washer tank is full, so I've eliminated freezing as the cause. Anyone have a troubleshooting flow chart I could follow to restore my ability to see out the windshield?

I also will finally install my heated signal mirrors, that I bought in October. Anyone have good sources for 14 gauge wire that will have tracer colors so I can wire everything up like factory? And any cool dash switch ideas so I can switch the mirror heat on/off?

I will try to get to rebuilding/reinstalling my new stereo as well, headed by the Kenwood DNX7100 Nav/Sat unit.

Thanks again in advance for the input!

-Kevin

Sometimes when you buy washer fluid the alcohol content (anti-freeze) isnt high enough and when left to sit it will separate partially and freeze in the lines. If your lucky it will be near the nozzle and sometimes i take water, boil it, let it cool down a touch and slowly and carefully pour it over the nozzles. this works sometimes to unfreeze the lines. Other then that i dunno...how cold is it?

another problem is that sometimes the rubber degrades and plugs up the nozzles and the fittings. starting at the nozzle thingee near the hood, see if there is flow there, (use a very fine needle or one strand of 20 guage wire (stranded) to clean out the goop) otherwise wander back aoing the hose line until you get to the tank connection. no flow there and you have a pump problem, likely a exploded pump housing or broken vanes (they are kinda flimsey)

My problem was green slime that covered the pump. It couldn't be seen without removal of the pump. They are real cheap to replace if need be.

I've never had cold weather issues, but the way I clean the gunk from mine is with a blow nozzle off my air compressor. On the passenger side under the hood up near the cab there is a plastic union splice in the rubber line. (Hope that made sense). If you simply unplug the rubber hose you can spray some air toward the windshield to clear out the nozzles, and spray some air back into the reservoir to make sure that lines clear. Then just plug it back in, wait for it to prime and see how you did.

The truck's been parked for 2 weeks inside. (55*F) So I don't believe freezing is the issue.

I'll give this a try, can't hurt. Thanks!

Past that, how difficult is it to get to the washer pump? Is it mounted to the bottom of the washer tank, or in-line to the nozzles?

And if anyone has a source for the wire I mentioned above, please let me know. Might be time to do my in-tank & lift pump mods too..... Could be awhile for the turbo to show up.

You've probably got this done by now, but yes, the pump is in the bottom of the reservoir. It is only a minor PITA to get to. If it needs a new pump the parts stores sell one that is a universal that fits and works just fine.

I had one plugged. I first pulled the hoses from the nozzles at the hood. I then took an air hose at very low pressure and blowed from the tank end. Blew crap out of the hose. Also clean the nozzles very carefully. Works great now.

Finally getting the truck running again, so I can work on this. I'm assuming the battery and tray need to come out to get to the bottom of the washer tank and washer pump?
