I am about ready to change my fuel filters on my 2007 SB. I have never done this before. The box I picked up at the dealer came with 2 filters 1 samll and 1 large filter. Can anyone give me some pointers and things to look out fore before I start.
There are step by step instructions in the tech folder in the 6.0 section.( If they arent correct please let us know I have to do mine one night this week)
I'm not a diesel Mechanic but i do have some experience ...and a chiltons helps..
the 6.0L have a Primary and a Main fuel filter.. ok 1st: find the Fuel Conditioning Module forward of the fuel tank on the left frame rail. 2nd: open the fuel and water drain valve on the side near the bottom of it and allow it to drain into something...this releaves the pressure in the fuel system. 3rd: Now the Primary filter (large mesh-10 micron).... simply unscrew the cap on the rear of the module to remove and replace the filter. (sometimes it can be easier to remove the module) (check the O-ring) 4th:Now the main filter is on top of the engine (might have to remove a cover) then simply unscrew the filter housing. lift the filter and O-ring out of the housing. 5th: they say you should use a syringe or (poulty baster works) to draw out any residual fuel and then clean the housing. 6th: next put a little fuel on the O-ring and put the new filter in (make sure to seat the O-ring) Install the cover and tighten it slowly so the filter can soak up the fuel.
tighten everything up ...make sure u close the drain valve on the module... and start it up.. then check for leaks...
for those of us with gas engines we just need a special tool to disengage the spring lock couplings on the fuel lines. on either side of the 1 fuel filter.
fuel filter is located inside of the left frame rail.
to relieve the fuel system pressure; taking off your gas cap will relieve pressure in the tank ...BUT...thats not it.... an easy way to do it would be to unplug the Inertia Switch (its behind the passanger side kick panel) then start the engine ... it should only start and then die in a few seconds.... the fuel pressure is now relieved.... when your done simply plug it back and (might have to hit its reset button) and your good to go.

The instructions in the 6.0 section will get you through the process. No problems. I printed them out and used them the first time I changed my filters and found them to be good. They now reside in my center console as reference material.
How many mile do you have on your 07? mines got just over 20,000 and I am just now changing the fuel filter for the first time.
Word to the wise, don't let your fuel filters go beyond the 15k change interval. Your injectors need good fuel pressure to keep them happy. The longer you let your filters go, the higher the risk of reduced fuel pressure and injector problems.
