a friend has a problem

he has a 2003 f250 4x4 with i believe 150,000 miles on it....he said when he puts it in drive it wont go over 1,000 rpm can anybody help

Get the code read and post the results... Not much to go on without the codes. The shoot from the hip would be a turbo problem (stuck closed). Get the codes!

he brought the truck to me dring lunch time and i was trying to find out the problem...when i started it and left it in park in reved up real slow but didnt go past 2200 rpms well when i put it in drive it wouldnt go over 950 rpms...well i turned it off and tried to turn it back on it took awhile but finally cranked and when i put it in gear it just turned off....and now it wont start at all.....any guesses

When were the fuel filter last changed? Maybe a no fuel flow thing... Also, get those codes pulled! Most local auto parts store have them for lending.

Even if it is running poorly, Autozone told me they don't check for codes unless there is a CEL

Being an 03 I would shoot for the ICP sensor, have fun changing that one because it located under and behind the turbo.

Yeah! And the guys at Auto ZONE no freakin' everything! My truck has codes without a CEL! Your's will too, so will his...

well we put a code reader on it and it gave us a p0674 which is number 4 glowplug and it also gave us a p1000 which means not complete....so now im lost i have no idea what the problem is...HELP PLEASE

P1000 is normal untill it compleats a drive cycle. Can you hear the turbo spin up?

P0674 is number 4 cylinder glow plug circuit.

at first you could hear the turbo spool up but now there is nothing i sounds like a gas truck from the exhaust end
