Muffler and cat delete

Wanting to do the muffler delete. I also have a cat on my truck. Would I be better of to get one solid pipe from just in front of the muffler back? Is it morecost effective to splice in two pieces?

I am thinking of doing the same thing. Don't have the $$ for a new exhaust. Some folks around here are buying a piece of flex pipe from NAPA and band clamps.

I was thinking of doing the same thing, removing the cat. I have taken out my muffler already but before I did it I called my local inspection shop (read: NYS almost as stict as CA) but I wonder what laws in different state say about removing a cat.

I don't know about the early 99'. I heard here that cali trucks have a cat on them, you may have the resonator. There is lots of people on here with early 99', someone should let you know.

My early '99 had a cat.

I cut the pipe just aft of the exhaust hanger behind the cat. I put an elbow pointing towards the ground and now I no longer have the black exhaust making a mess of the white paint

Funny thing happened and the cat is now gutless. Does that make it a resonator?

this might sound stupid but I'm new at this. My early 99 has a muffler and a cat. Just making sure I get this right. The muffler is right off the downpipe. It's about 8-10" wide and 12" long. Then comes the cat. This looks like a flattened out five gallon bucket hangin under the pickup.

Yep, the flat bucket is the muffler. The other I'm not sure on, but I will find out if I cut the sucker off.

That sounds more like a resonator.
