Ok guys its been a very long day today. Iam off to bed so i'll report back in tommorow night with the damage. Pray its just a split o-ring for me guys..
Will do thanks. As the tow truck driver was loading it up on the flat bed i checked the underside!!! I never have to worry about rust under the truck now. It was cover in oil, and so is the tailgate and probley the few tailgaters that were behind me when the truck was slowing dieing on the innerstate. I just changed the oil 200 miles ago and now iam not sure how low it is but iam going to change it again to be safe. Oh yeah the oil pressure gauge on the dash never moved so iam hoping the engine didn't starve for oil.
Erik
It probably didn't. When you lose pressure it shuts down(as in your case) well before it does any damage. In your original post you made it sound like you were intent on replacing the 15* HPOP with a17* unit regardless of whether it needed replacing or not. I think that is why you recieved the repies that you did.
Just in case the o-ring kit is part 2C3Z-9G804-AA make sure you use all three o-rings and the sealant.
good luck,
Austin
That Ford pump rebuild kit EXCLUDES the O ring for one of the mill ports. Mine blew the o ring on that small port (bottom, drivers side) and I could easily turn the bolt with a wrench. Anyway, if that's the O ring you need, it's a $2.00 part from McMaster Carr or go to International and buy a $75.00 rebuild pump kit for an in line 6 cyllinder. The correct O ring is in it.
$19.50 for the HPOP o-ring kit and alot of clean and the truck is running. Around lunch time at work i checked the rear plug on the HPOP and used a small mirror to get under it and seen the o-ring was pushed out from the plug. I got my 18mm and the fitting was loose. So i guess the fitting started to back out and once the pressure blew out the o-ring that was it. I replaced the O-ring and used the supply lock tight (sp?) cleaned the heck out of the valley and underside of the truck and its 100% again. Oh yeah it took 12qts of oil for the oil level to be at its proper level!!! I drove the truck and the motor sounds good and tight so iam not worried about any lower end damage.
Thanks again guys you saved me alot of money.
Erik
