Bill,
Great story!! When I was younger I did my stint with Mopars. My mom's grocery getter was a big block 1966 Charger that we had bought from my grandpa. I had a small block 67 Charger and later a big block 66 Plymouth Satellite (that car cost me alot of money in traffic court...lol)
Here's another pic of the 55 after we finally had it painted. The car is still around. In fact my buddy had it out at the track just this past summer.

Hey Brian, that's too cool!!! I also miss SY being here too, but I think the weather is better for her where she is? We went 2 years in a row to SY's open house, and we loved it!! She is a real sweet person, and knows her F100's!
I love this site, there's so many nice folks here!

Bobby, that pic brings back memories from many years ago. My uncles built a 55 to race in the late 60's that looked to be the same color as that one, it was the only one they ever had sponsors for. It had a new paint job and a little "Casper the Ghost" on the front fender and was named "Spooky", I was to blame for the name, as that was my favorite cartoon at the time. On the trip to the track for it's debut, the truck towing it had a blowout and rolled the entire rig. They turned the car back over, drove it to the track and still won their class that night.
I've got some pics of the finished car and my uncle with the trophy sitting on the hood of it after it was rolled. I'll try to post them if I can find them.

I finally got out to a local show at Castle Amusment Park. There were about 150 cars and trucks of all types. I hope I can link to the pics. This is the best I can do.
I really wish you CA and Southern state guys wouldn't post this kind of material. I don't think it's very nice. I'm looking out my widow at the dirty, discusting foot deep remnants of crappy snow, we've come to call it affectionately "Shice", sh**+ice. Please stop posting these, or at least wait until us northern guys have a chance to at least get out toys out of winter strorage or I will report you to the administrator for abusing members.
I moved my "new" '48 today. I only slipped on the ice a dozen times. Getting ready for the next snowstorm tonite. I Just thought I'd share that in lieu of Bob's post......I don't want to be reported to the admin. Then again, looking outside, that'll never happen.
I'm SOOOO Happy! This was day number two in the 50's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course the rest of the week only has highs in the upper 20's to lower 30's, but I was able to get out and get fresh air!!! The snow melted off of most of the grass and the lake out back has water over top of the ice, and I think the hockey rink the kids cleared is almost thawed completely!
Spring is COMING! and Easter's nearly here--it's my favorite time of year!
