Bendix Removal

Okay, I have the starter removed.

But darn if I can't figure out how to remove the pin securing the bendix to the starter motor shaft.

The bendix ***'y itself covers the hole about 1/3, so I can't drive the pin out??

The first day I began rebuilding this truck, this was the very first of all issues to come...

However, as with anyting, I got past it with ease.

My friend happened to be over that day, so we clamped the assembly in the vice, and I think as he pushed down on that piece which semi-covers the pin (used operationally to hold it in place) I took a small screwdriver and tapped it out with the hammer.

I don't know, I did this a while ago and don't remember the exact details. I know there is a really strong spring in there somewhere holding it like that! Just mess with it until you know how it works.
