Bilstein options
I have a 2006 F250 Super Crew, 6.5ft bed, 4x4, diesel. I'm planning to do the 4 Bilstein HDs and Monroe stabilizer, as many have previously suggested in these forums. Before I do, I am curious about the Bilstein BTS level kit for these trucks. Has anyone put one on and how does it work?
My truck is a daily driver/family car/tow rig for my travel trailer/(and boat hopefully soon
). I'm not interested in a lifting and I'm also concerned about the headlights becoming search lights when trailer is hooked upThanks for any inputs.
It replaces the coil springs with ones designed to level out the front of the truck by raising it 2.5".
If you tow a lot and heavy.....load assist air bags are great to have. I have them on my 07 and often have 2000-3000lbs in the bed or hooked up to a 10,000-11,000lb trailer and they keep the truck level.

I'm waiting for the Air Lift Wireless Air system to be released...I may get that, depending on the price, otherwise maybe the smart air or something:

I had air bags on my Excursion...I took them off for a reason too complex to get into here.
What I ended up going with was the RoadMaster Active Suspension (RAS). Price is 'comparable' to the air bags and it provides a totally 'passive' rear spring capacity adder (kinda like an add a leaf). BUT in the unloaded state...you pretty much retain your unloaded ride...when you drop your tongue load or load in the bed...that's when the RAS kicks in.
On Excursions we fight pretty bad rear axle wrapping due to the leaf spring spacer block. With the RAS addition to the rear spring pack...well the rear of my Ex is SOLID even when I drop 1100-1200# of tongue load back there!...NO REAR END SAG when I load up and apply WD...I am VERY happy with this system...
Just thought I'd throw out another 'possible' option to add rear capacity. With the RAS...you set it and forget it...as you load up...it kicks in automatically...no need to add air, let air out, etc...
Now RAS lists 2000# of added spring capacity which brings the rear of my Ex up to the AXLE RATING...any more than that and I'm exceeding the Visteon rating...so that's good for me...FWIW...my rear axle is the SAME rear axle that F250's and F350 SRW's have...so....
Sorry for the unsolicited info...but hope it helps.
Also I have bilsteins all around and they made a HUGE improvement when towing...

Everyone keeps talking about a monroe replacement for the factory steering stabilizer. But no one ever talks about the part number for the proper monroe shock. Does any one know what the proper monroe shock is to replace the factory one????
