its twenty minutes well spent even if you decide its to much and take it out. i tried two different sizes. IDmooseman advised me not to do it without an actual pressure guage and i'm glad he did the psi is all over the place.
how much would a shim increase me i wonder? a tire gauge read 65 psi @ idle...
My FPR was reading ~40psi before I installed one BB. After the BB, ~70psi.
If you're getting 65psi now, I think the BB would send your pressure up over 90psi. I wouldn't do the shim with a BB yet. You could get a small bolt with one or two nuts for adjustability. That way you make small changes and get the pressure where you want it.
Hey Brady (Farmer Ford), thanks for the kind words. Enjoyed talking with you yesterday.
I have a 1996 7.3 with 205,000. I checked the pressure and it reads a steady 60 psi. Would you try to increase the pressure with a mod? My thinking is to leave well enough alone.
My FPR dosen't have the black filter housing as shown in a previous post. Is there another filter located on my FPR that I should clean or change? One more question. I changed my fuel filter today, in the bottom of the bowl the hold down for the element are broken. Will this create a problem? I am talking about the dime size brackets.
but it still jumps from 500 to 600 RPM 6 times when it returns to idle.
ive had this problem ever since i bought the truck a year and a half ago, I've even been to the dealer about it (before i started reading up here on ) and they couldnt figure it out. i just ordered my HPX today and i'm almost 100% positive this will fix it. ive heard alot of good things about the HPX here.

Try it and meassure the pressure after that, dont go more than 80.
There are a screen in the FPR that you should clean.
The broken element surely is going to blew the fuse #22 underhood, just unplugged it in the outside of the canister.
