I added the 6637 air filter the other day (along with the zoodad, ccv mod, driving light mod and the door buzzer mod....man I love this site) and I was wondering what everyone does with the battery box after. I was going to leave it out but it is also the battery mount so it had to go back in. I was thinking of fabbing up a new mount then enclosing it all in with aluminum like most of the after market air intake kits. Is this necessary or better? Has anyone done a similar deal that could post some pics?
The door buzzer is removing the ground wire on the ignition so that the door buzzer is not going off with the key in the ignition and the door open. This is common on all Fords so it is easy to do.
I left the battery pan and cut out the cowling the went around and over the battery and threw it in the trash. Left enough room for the filter and still retained the screws on either side of the battery to hold it secure. Hope that helps.
Everyone seems to have issues with the battery box. I didn't have any problems. My battery box (the lower tray) is still in the truck. The upper battery cover deal is not but mostly because I was taking the batter our so often to work on this or that, I kept it out. The 6637 seems to fit fine, although tight right where the old air filter box was.
I left the bottom in mine, and the end of my 6637 nestles right down between the two rear-protruding extensions from the bottom of the battery tray. It would fit more easily if I hadn't left it in, but I want to keep my stock parts in decent shape in case I ever (for who knows WHAT reason) may want to either go back to stock (like when selling the truck - God forbid!) or someone else wants/needs it and I can send it to them in good condition.
I cut mine up, mostly to make more room so that the filter wouldn't hit the hood. Look in my gallery(sorry, don't know how to post pic in a message yet). I cut the back of the battery enclosure to remove mounting tabs for the air box. I also removed part of the bottom that the air filter box mounted to. I left one mounting point on the bottom so that I could re-install the original filter box if needed. Not much was removed and I was able to leave the battery mounts in place, but it definitely gets the filter to set lower.

That is what I was thinking of doing but I like to save the stuff that comes off in case it ever needs to go back on.
My truck is an 03 and I never had any of the problems that some of the older trucks had in the post. My door FOB still works and I have no chime in the accessory key position either.
