My check engine light came on yesterday but the truck is running perfect. Called dealer and will be taking it in this afternoon. They said it has something to do with the block heater plug in???? Has anyone had a similar experience?

Mine came on friday last week. Took it in on monday and they replaced the DPF, not for sure that was the problem. They said they ran some cleaner through the motor that the EGR valve was sulfured up. They had it until Wednesday evening. Mine ran fine the whole weekend also. The owners manual said that sometimes it will clear itself if you run it a certain way. I forget what page it was on. Mine did not clear so in the shop it went.
Took the truck in yesterday. The Dealer said it already had the latest flash and that ford new about the engine light illumination with no apparent engine problems, they are working on an update and to check back with them in a couple of weeks......OK lets hear what you'all have to say.
I have the same thing going on with my truck...the check engine light came on the other day and the truck is running fine!! i'm goin to take it to the dealer this week...

I say GOOD LUCK I hope they figure out what the problem is.
Well my check engine light came on about 3 weeks ago and the truck ran fine. I couldn't get to the dealer for nearly a week to have it checked but on the way to the dealer that morning it went out. They put it on the computer and it showed code P006B (map sensor). They cleared DTC'S, code did not come back. Retest OK at this time. (I'm typing this from my invoice). Anyway, I got another check engine light this morning and again, no noticable difference in the way the truck runs. I will call Monday and try to get it back in to have it checked. If it's the MAP sensor again, I'm going to demand that they replace it this time.

Same here, had mine in twice . Truck runs fine, cleared code and cel stays off about a month. Same explanation, dealer says drive it they'll keep clearing codes. Anyone notice if theirs is doing it only when cold or up to temp. ?
Mine only seems to do it when cold. Dealer mentioned something about thermostat but wanted to wait to hear from Ford Engineering Dept. .

Just because your CEL is on does not mean the truck will run poorly, could be just some sensors aren't sending proper signals, truck can still run fine though
Check engine light has been on in my truck three times. I took it in and they said it is becausse the engine is not coming up to temp soon enough. This I already am fighting with them about. Engine not hot no heat in cab, poor mileage, etc. anyhow they changed tstat. Light still comes on. Ford is aware of problem and they are looking at it. Believe it or not they told me to ignore the light. My question is why even have a light if we are going to ignore it and pretend there isn't a problem.
I have had the similar problem with my 08 too. The CEL light came on for about 2 hours and went out. I said well it cleared it's self. Then it came on again, on the way to the dealer to get my first free oil change. I asked them to run a check on why the CEL came on. They had me speek directly to the tech who stated that the coolant temp and oil temp sensors were sending false info the the computer and because of their difference that was why the light came on. He stated that ford is working for a solution but none was available at the time of service. The tech told me to start the truck up and let it reach operational temp before i drive. He didnt like it when i stated the the owners manual states not to let the truck idle for extended period of time, and that the federal law for idle time is 5 min.
