My job 1 truck would sometimes belch white/blue smoke and feel like it had a bad miss while it was doing it. I took it in and told them that I wanted the latest flash. They didn't argue with me and done it. I have not had the white smoke problem since.

Brought my truck back to the service department at the ford dealership yesterday. They said that engineers are still researching why the cel is coming on. The service writer got pissed that i wanted it cleared, because i didnt buy $60,000 truck to have the cel on all the time! Go Figure!

Sounds like allot af upset folks,I think you guys should start sending a invoice to ford for fuel costs and time away from work for all the trips to the dealer, bet they would try a little harder.
Lets not forget this is a new beast and people are still learning but, I sure wish ford could get there people up to date on these trucks and get busy with the software before disigning the next truck for us to test for them.

I also have had the SES (CEL) come on twice. The service department said dtc P0128 (engine coolant) and dtc P0196 (engine oil temperature sensor circuit) were set. Both times I was told that Ford engineering was working on the problem according to "oasis". The codes were reset and they told me I was all set. I also asked them about the poor mpg's I was getting (6.7 mpg) and the white/blue smoke from the exhaust and was told that was from the regen of the dpf. I thought the dpf was supposed to filter smoke??? I asked about the latest reflash (built 05 FEB 07) and was told the truck was up to date. The service manager said the SES (CEL) would have a negative effect on mileage. 2008 6.4L F350 DWD FX4. Any ideas on how to get the Ford dealership to take care of these problems?

When i sent my truck in to the dealer for the cel, it was the same coolant/oil temp circuit. My service manager said that ford is coming out with a new program or reflash in april to correct the problem. As for having them fixing your truck i think that persistance is key and dont let up. Stay right on thier buts and simply make it known that you will be a unhappy customer, amd also that you did not spend $40,50,60+ on a vehicle that does not perform up to your standards. I did this with my dealership as they gave me the run-a-round for the first and last trip. They performed everything to their standards, but not mine, as a let the service manager know and he ensured that my problems will be fixed, as they were in the following days. But i was still upset that i had to leave my truck for so long because they did not repair it right the first time, but i do understand that it is not the dealers fault for the faults on the truck. I was always taught that you can get more bees with honey than vinagar!

Update, I've had the CEL come on 3 times in the last month to 6 weeks, installed the grille cover on Jan. 31st . Have NOT had the CEL come on since, so I do believe that it is something to do with the difference between coolant and oil temps. Hopefully they can resolve this issue with a flash or a new sensor.

Update on my CEL problem. Took the truck in last Tuesday for 8am appointment to replace the oil pressure/temp. switch. I was told by the service writer that they would have to take off both turbos to get to it. That scared me a little because I thought any turbo work was a cab off operation but he said they wouldn't have to take the cab off. Said it was a half day job though. Anyway, I took it in and informed him that I would be waiting in the customer lounge until they got r done. Well about 930 am he cam in and apologized to me first thing. He said that they had the wrong part! They were putting the truck back together and I would have to come back when the right part arrived. He said he would make it up to me somehow. So I'm waiting for a call and another appointment to have the switch replaced. Oh by the way, the CEL has not came back on yet.

My engine light is on and has been on for a few weeks. I just filled up this morning and hand calculated mileage. I got 16.8 miles to the gallon. This is up from 14. I run the same trip(s) every week. I do not know if I want them to look at it now. It has not gone out and is not blinking. I had one regen in about 4 tanks of fuel and that was last night for about 10 seconds on the highway. I could see the smoke behind me.

mine is in the shop for same thing plus about 5 others.when i go back i will get the code number that it is throwing. the tech showed me a printout of the code and told me that the reason the light is coming on is the cpu is getting false information reguarding operating temp ie you could run it for hours and the computer still thinks the engine is cold...also she said (yes she) ford knows and hasnt come up with a fix except clear the code for now but its still going to light back up....(Quote, Mary, ford tec, courtesy ford altoona pa.
