Finding Displacement
Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't engine displacement be found by using bore and stroke measurements. I always figured that to find the displacement of a V8 engine you could find the volume of one cylinder by using the bore and stroke then multiplying it by eight. When I do this I get close numbers for some engines, like a 302 or 400, but if I calculate the numbers for a 460 I get 421. Am I missing something? For a 460 I used a 4.36" bore with a 3.85" stroke.

Finding Displacement
displacement is (pi)*(r^2)*(stroke)*#of cylinders
so the radius of a stock 460 bore would be 4.36/2 or 2.18"
2.18 * 2.18 = 4.75
4.75*3.14=14.92 sq. in.
14.92*3.85=57.44
57.44*8=456.5 cu. in.
